Members of AFSCME Local 2428! I hope everyone’s 2026 is off to a good start. To begin this missive, I would like to thank Chris Newey for stepping in for me as President for the past month and a half. There was a personal issue that came up and I made the decision to focus on that in order to do one thing well instead of two things poorly. A second round of thanks goes to the Executive Board who, during all the tumult, were not only supportive of me, but also put in work during the holiday season to keep our local running. Now, some updates!

Hello AFSCME members, Your leadership team and the District have reached an agreement regarding the re-org! After several meetings and discussions, the District has made significant changes to their proposal to address the majority of the concerns and impacts that were raised by our members. Thank you all for your willingness to speak at the Board meetings, write to your Board members and support your coworkers by attending the Board meetings. Your actions made a tremendous impact on the Board and completely changed the tone of our negotiations with management on this topic. Great job everyone!
